At first glance, TV Girl seems like a sunny, nostalgic blast of 60s French pop and Southern Californian soul music. But beneath this glossy surface lies a dark heart that beats with sharp wit and cynical alienation - and that's what makes the music all the more fascinating. TV Girl, consisting of Brad Petering, Jason Wyman and Wyatt Harmon, was formed in 2010 by Petering to combine a love of girl-group pop à la Spector with a growing interest in hip-hop. With their shimmering vocals and sampled beats, their self-titled debut EP in 2010 made an immediate splash, with the group's opulent vintage rhythms and timeless pop hooks even gaining international attention, including the BBC. They continued their success story by releasing increasingly popular EPs and mixtapes in between their tours.
