Political punk rock with attitude from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Feine Sahne Fischfilet are one of the most influential and loudest voices in the German punk rock scene. Founded in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2007, the band around singer Jan "Monchi" Gorkow developed from a local skapunk combo into a nationally recognised voice for social protest, solidarity and anti-fascism.
Musically, Feine Sahne Fischfilet move between punk rock, rock, ska and anthemic pathos - with catchy choruses, a powerful sound and an energetic stage presence. Their lyrics are direct, emotional and clearly positioned: Against racism, homophobia and social injustice - and in favour of an open society based on solidarity.
Especially with the albums Stay or go and Storm & dirt the band made the leap into the mainstream without losing their roots or their attitude. Despite or perhaps because of their political commitment, the band was the target of state surveillance on several occasions - including being included in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's constitution protection report. These repressions strengthened their reputation as uncomfortable, honest and independent.
Live, Feine Sahne Fischfilet are an event: their concerts are loud, emotional and combine a punk attitude with a sense of community. They are not afraid to perform in structurally weak regions in order to set an example against right-wing agitation and convey hope.
