Edo Saiya, born Timo Bethke in 1998, is a German rapper from Cologne. His musical influences are diverse and range from US rap and emo post-rock to soul and jazz.
He began his musical career in rock bands and performed publicly as a battle rapper under the name Square. He later decided on the pseudonym Edo Saiya, which he borrowed from Japanese. He orientated himself towards the current influences of cloud rap.
Edo Saiya has been regularly releasing singles and tapes since the beginning of 2018. His debut EP "Somnia" was self-released in April, followed by his first single "Besser" a few weeks later. In summer 2018, he released the album "Azur" via the recordJet platform.
Edo Saiya has collaborated with various artists throughout his career, including Sierra Kidd and Yin Kalle. In 2022, he released the album "Polar", which reached the top position in the German album charts.
Edo Saiya is known for his unique sound and his ability to strike a chord with the times. Despite his young age, he has already made a name for himself in the German rap scene and is regarded as a promising newcomer.
