Turkish pop star with international flair

EDIS, whose full name is Edis Görgülü, was born in London on 28 November 1990 and grew up in İzmir. His musical talent was evident from an early age - he learnt the piano, sang in the school choir and was equally interested in music and acting. After moving to Istanbul, he initially pursued a career as an actor before suddenly becoming famous as a musician in 2014 with his debut single "Benim Ol".

His songs such as "Dudak", "Çok Çok" and "Roman" quickly became radio hits in Turkey and showcase his modern, Western-influenced pop sound with Turkish influences. His first album Ân was released in 2018 and underpinned his claim to be one of the style-defining artists of Turkish mainstream pop. EDIS combines danceable rhythms with emotional lyrics, catchy melodies and a strong stage presence.

EDIS is also active outside of music - whether as a style-conscious figurehead of Turkish youth culture or through his social commitment. With his versatility and charisma, he has long since made a name for himself beyond Turkey's borders and is considered one of the most important contemporary pop artists in his country.
