Álvaro Soler, born on 9 January 1991 in Barcelona, is a Spanish-German pop singer and dubbing artist. He is known for his unique blend of pop and Spanish sounds.
Soler was born in Barcelona to a Spanish-Belgian mother and a German father. He grew up in Barcelona until the age of ten before moving to Tokyo with his family. There he attended a German school and played in a school band. He returned to Barcelona at the age of 17 and studied industrial design.
He began his musical career with the band Urban Lights, which he founded in Barcelona in 2010. After winning a university talent contest, they decided to try their hand at the music business. They produced a single and an album and reached the final of the national casting show Tú sí que vales in 2013.
Soler was signed as a solo musician by Universal Music. His first single "El mismo sol" was released in 2015 and reached number one in Italy within two weeks. His debut album "Eterno agosto" was produced by Alexander Zuckowski and Simon Triebel.
In 2016, Soler had his second number one hit in the Italian singles charts with "Sofia". In the same year, he sat on the jury in the tenth season of the Italian edition of the casting show The X Factor. His second album "Mar de Colores" was released in 2018.
In 2019, he took part in the sixth season of the German TV show Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert. His third album "Magia" was released in July 2021. In the same year, he was part of the guessing team for The Masked Singer.
