Zakk Sabbath is an American tribute band founded by Zakk Wylde, the well-known guitarist and former band member of Ozzy Osbourne. As the name suggests, Zakk Sabbath is dedicated entirely to the music of the legendary band Black Sabbath. Zakk Wylde, who himself is famous for his virtuoso playing style and his distinctive pinch harmonics, is at the centre of the band as frontman and lead guitarist, supported by experienced musicians such as Rob "Blasko" Nicholson on bass and Joey Castillo on drums.
The project was born out of Wylde's love for the music of Black Sabbath, and Zakk Sabbath interpret the classic songs of the British metal pioneers in their very own way. They stay true to the original, raw sound of the early Sabbath era, but add Wylde's own distinctive style. The band made a name for themselves with their 2020 record Vertigoa reinterpretation of Black Sabbath's first album, caused quite a stir. The album was recorded under special conditions, namely without digital post-production and in a time frame that is modelled on the original recordings, which emphasises the authenticity of the project.
Zakk Sabbath are best known for their energetic live performances, during which they play classics such as War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man to the stage. With a mixture of respect for the original and Wylde's unique guitar playing, the band will delight both Black Sabbath fans and new listeners alike, keeping the legacy of one of the most influential bands in rock history alive.
