We Came As Romans is an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan, that was founded in 2005. Originally known as "This Emergency", the band changed their name a year later. The band combines a hard metalcore sound with melodic elements and a remarkably positive approach to content. Their music often centres on themes such as cohesion, hope and the desire to give comfort to others through music.

After a few early releases, they hit the big time with their debut album To Plant a Seed 2009 attracted greater attention. This was followed by albums such as Understanding What We've Grown to Be, Tracing Back Roots or Cold Like Warwhich showed a constant stylistic development and a greater willingness to experiment. The mixture of aggressive riffs, electronic influences and anthemic vocals was particularly striking.

The band was dealt a heavy blow in 2018 with the sudden death of singer Kyle Pavone. Despite this loss, the group decided to carry on and released the emotionally charged album 2022 Darkbloom. It shows that We Came As Romans have retained their creative strength even after difficult times and remain a permanent fixture in the metalcore scene.
