Tokio Hotel is a German rock band that was founded in 2001. The band consists of the members Bill Kaulitz (vocals), Tom Kaulitz (guitar, synthesiser), Georg Listing (bass) and Gustav Schäfer (drums).
The band hails from Magdeburg and became famous in 2005 with their song "Durch den Monsun". Since then, they have released four number one singles in Germany and Austria and sold over ten million records (as of 2020), making them one of the most commercially successful bands in the German-speaking world.
Their musical genres were originally pop-rock and alternative rock, but since 2014 the band has started playing electropop and synth-pop. Their latest album "2001" is now available.
Tokio Hotel has also achieved international success and has been marketed by Universal Music in large parts of Europe, North and South America. They have a loyal fan base and are known for their energetic live performances.
