Tim Bendzko

Tim Bendzko, born on 9 April 1985 in East Berlin, is a German singer-songwriter. He grew up in the Köpenick district of Berlin and attended a sports high school. He played football for 1. FC Union Berlin before turning to music.

Bendzko took guitar lessons as a teenager and began writing his own songs at the age of 16. After graduating from high school, he began studying Protestant theology and non-Christian religions at the Free University of Berlin, which he completed after five semesters without a degree.

His musical career began when he won a talent competition in 2009 and was subsequently signed to a record deal with Sony Music. His breakthrough came in 2011 with his debut album "Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären", which entered the German charts at number four. The single "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" stayed in the charts for 47 weeks and was later awarded platinum status, as was the album.

Bendzko has since released several albums, including "Am seidenen Faden" (2013), which reached number one in the German charts. Despite its success, the album received mixed reviews.

In addition to his music career, Bendzko has also appeared as a coach in the first season of "The Voice Kids". He is known for his distinctive, soft voice and his soulful, self-written German pop songs. With his music, Tim Bendzko has shown that German-language pop definitely has a right to exist in the charts.
