**Stereophonics** is a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the small town of Cwmaman. Founding members Kelly Jones (vocals, guitar), Richard Jones (bass) and Stuart Cable (drums) quickly made a name for themselves with their blend of rock, Britpop and alternative. The band is known for its distinctive sound, characterised by Kelly Jones' smoky voice and catchy melodies. With profound and often introspective lyrics, the group has delighted listeners for decades.
Their debut album *Word Gets Around* (1997) brought the band initial success, but their breakthrough came with the follow-up *Performance and Cocktails* (1999), which contained hits such as *The Bartender and the Thief* and *Just Looking*. Further albums such as *Just Enough Education to Perform* (2001) with the hit *Have a Nice Day* and *You Gotta Go There to Come Back* (2003) cemented their status as one of the most important British bands of the 2000s. Stereophonics are known for their ability to write both rocking anthems and soulful ballads.
Over the years, the band has evolved, explored different styles and experienced member changes, including the death of drummer Stuart Cable in 2010, yet with Kelly Jones as the driving creative force, the band has continued to produce albums and tour worldwide. With their continued relevance and hits such as *Dakota*, Stereophonics remain a fixture in the British music landscape, epitomising authentic rock music with heart and soul.
