**Skunk Anansie** is a British rock band that was founded in London in 1994. The band, consisting of charismatic front woman Skin (Deborah Dyer), guitarist Ace (Martin Kent), bassist Cass (Richard Lewis) and drummer Mark Richardson, combines hard guitar riffs with political and socially critical lyrics. They are known for their energetic live performances and Skunk's powerful, emotional voice, which can express both tenderness and anger. Musically, Skunk Anansie move between alternative rock, punk and metal, often with influences of soul and funk.
Their debut album *Paranoid & Sunburnt* (1995) quickly brought the band great attention, especially with the provocative single *Weak*. With their second album *Stoosh* (1996) and hits such as *Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)*, they cemented their status as one of the most exciting British rock bands of the 1990s.
