
Serdar Somuncu is a German cabaret artist, actor, director, author and musician of Turkish origin, who is best known for his provocative and sharp-tongued performances. Born on 3 June 1968 in Istanbul, Somuncu moved to Germany with his family as a child, where he became active in various artistic fields. His work is characterised by an intensive examination of social, political and cultural issues, which he often deals with in a satirical manner.
Somuncu became particularly well known in the 1990s for his controversial reading of Adolf Hitler's *Mein Kampf*, which he performed in his programme "Der Hassprediger". In this programme, he took a critical and sarcastic look at the text in order to expose the absurdity and danger of Nazi ideology. This reading led to a broad public debate and made Somuncu a polarising figure in the German cultural scene. His unconventional, often shocking style is a trademark of his performances, in which he does not shy away from taboos.
In addition to his work as a cabaret artist and satirist, Serdar Somuncu is also an author and director. He has published several books, including novels and essays that deal with social and political issues. He has also started a career as a musician and releases rap albums under the name "Der Unbestechliche" (The Incorruptible), in which he musically processes his critical view of the world. Somuncu remains an influential and controversial voice in the German cultural landscape, who impresses with his ability to address current problems in a humorous yet profound way.
