SCORPIONS

**Scorpions** is a German rock band founded by Rudolf Schenker in Hanover in 1965 and is one of the best-known and most successful rock bands in the world. The band is best known for its powerful hard rock anthems and soulful ballads, including classics such as *Rock You Like a Hurricane*, *Still Loving You* and *Wind of Change*. The line-up of the Scorpions has changed several times over the years, with Schenker and singer Klaus Meine being the central and long-standing members. With their characteristic blend of powerful guitar riffs and melodic vocals, they achieved their international breakthrough in the 1980s.

The Scorpions made an important contribution with the album *Love at First Sting* (1984), which catapulted them to the peak of their global success and won them fans all over the world. *Wind of Change* became the anthem of political change in Europe in 1990 and sold millions of copies worldwide. The band has built up a large fan base with its hits, which deal with love and passion as well as social and political issues, and is one of the few German bands that have been able to hold their own in the international rock business.
