Santiano

Shanty rock from the north - between tradition and modernity

Santiano is a German band from Schleswig-Holstein that has been celebrating great success since its foundation in 2011 with a powerful mix of sea shanties, rock, folk and pop songs. The band's name goes back to the French song "Santiano", which in turn is based on a traditional shanty - and thus emphasises the group's maritime heritage. With energetic performances, polyphonic singing and a clear message of freedom, adventure and solidarity, they have established a firm position for themselves in the German music scene.

The band consists of five musicians: Hans-Timm Hinrichsen, Axel Stosberg, Björn Both, Andreas Fahnert and Pete Sage. Each member brings their own influences to the table - both musically and thematically. Their albums like To the end of the world, With the tides or When the cold comes achieved high chart positions and were honoured with gold and platinum awards. The typical Santiano sound thrives on the interplay between rough seas and emotional depth, between traditional song culture and modern rock production.

In addition to their music, Santiano are also socially committed. They are committed to environmental protection, sea rescue and social projects. Their tours are spectacularly staged, but also sustainably organised.
