Sabaton

**Sabaton** is a Swedish power metal band that was founded in 1999 and has made a name for itself with its unique thematic focus on historical wars, battles and heroic stories. The band currently consists of Joakim Brodén (vocals, keyboards), Pär Sundström (bass), Chris Rörland (guitar), Tommy Johansson (guitar) and Hannes Van Dahl (drums). With their powerful sound and anthemic melodies, Sabaton have built up a large fan base and are recognised as one of the leading metal bands of their generation.

The album *The Art of War* (2008) marked her international breakthrough and consistently realised her style of telling historical war events through music. Later albums such as *Carolus Rex* (2012), which deals with the history of Sweden and the Swedish Empire, and *The Great War* (2019), which is dedicated to the First World War, cemented Sabaton's unique place in the metal scene. Sabaton emphasise detailed research for their lyrics, which often shed light on little-known historical stories, making their music educational and fascinating for many fans.

Sabaton are known for their spectacular live shows, which often feature pyrotechnics, armoured props and impressive stage sets. The band is strongly committed to their fans, organising annual events such as the Sabaton Open Air Festival in Sweden and even opening a museum to give fans an insight into their historical research. Sabaton manages to combine power metal with historical context through their unique style and remains one of the most impressive bands in heavy metal.
