The band "Queens of the Stone Age", often abbreviated as QOTSA, was founded in 1996 by Josh Homme. They come from Seattle, Washington, and can be categorised as part of the alternative rock or stoner rock scene.
The band members change frequently, and Josh Homme is the only permanent member. The current line-up consists of Josh Homme (vocals, guitar), Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar, keyboards, vocals, lap steel), Jon Theodore (drums), Michael Shuman (bass, vocals) and Dean Fertita (keyboards, vocals, guitar, percussion).
The band's music is known for its blues-, krautrock- and electronic-influenced style of riff-orientated and rhythmic hard rock, paired with Homme's distinctive falsetto vocals and unconventional guitar scales.
The band has released several albums over the course of their career, including "...Like Clockwork" (2013), "Villains" (2017) and "In Times New Roman..." (2023).
