She has appeared on many UK TV and radio panel shows including "8 Out of 10 Cats" (as a regular team captain), "Never Mind the Buzzcocks", "A League of Their Own", "Mock the Week", "Would I Lie to You?", "QI", "Just a Minute", "Safeword" and "Have I Got News for You",As a stand-up comedian, Ryan has appeared on the BBC show "Live at the Apollo" both as a featured artist and as the main act. Ryan was born in Sarnia, Ontario, and moved to the UK after studying urban planning at Ryerson University in Toronto. During her studies, she worked at the Hooters restaurant chain and began training other waitresses. In her spare time, she performed at open mic nights, and her career took off after moving to the UK, where she won the Funny Women Award in 2008. She first appeared on television in the Canadian music video review show "Video on Trial" and then moved to the UK where she appeared in "8 Out of 10 Cats" on Channel 4 in 2012.
