Ezhel, whose real name is Sercan İpekçioğlu, was born in Ankara on 1 July 1991. He is a well-known Turkish rapper who uses a mixture of trap, hip-hop and reggae in his music.
Ezhel comes from a musical family. His mother was a state singer who entertained foreign guests with songs in Turkish, Arabic and Chinese. At the age of 18, he began his musical career with street music, which he himself described as "AnatolianUrbanCore/Hip-Hop/Reggae-Dub/Trap".
His debut album "Müptezhel" (Turkish for "worthless") was released in 2017 and received widespread recognition. Ezhel's lyrics deal with street life and the capital's underground culture, as well as socially critical topics such as child labour, poverty, sexual harassment and child abuse.
His song "AYA" has been streamed more than 80 million times on Spotify. He was honoured with the title "Freestyle King" by Hip Hop Life in Turkey.
Ezhel has lived in Berlin since 2019. He also has a prominent place on YouTube, where he regularly publishes new music and videos.
