World music, indie and nostalgic melodies

Beirut is the music project of US musician Zach Condon, which is known for its unique mix of indie folk, world music and nostalgic melancholy. Inspired by Balkan brass, French chansons and Mexican folklore, Beirut has been creating a sound since the mid-2000s that is at once well-travelled, dreamy and deeply emotional.

Musically, Beirut combines acoustic instruments such as trumpet, ukulele, accordion and piano with warm arrangements and Condon's distinctive, yearning voice. Songs like Postcards from Italy, Nantes or Santa Fe convey an atmosphere reminiscent of old postcards, vast landscapes and distant cities. The melodies are rich, poetic and full of attention to detail.
