She grew up in the Kirchmöser district of Brandenburg an der Havel with a younger sister and a single mother. Her stage name is derived from "Bad" and "Momz", a shortening of "Bad Mothers", which in American slang refers to a "type of women" who know exactly what they want in life. "Jay" is the English spelling of "J", the first letter of her first name.
Their first studio album "Badmómz." was released on 25 November 2021 and reached number seven in the German charts. Almost exactly two years after their debut album, on 23 November 2023, the follow-up was released with the title "Survival Mode", which reached number four in the German album charts.
