Between emo, rap and post-hardcore
nothing, nowhere. is the music project of US artist Joe Mulherin, who has created his very own place in the modern music landscape with his unique blend of emo, hip-hop, alternative rock and post-hardcore. Since 2015, he has been releasing songs under this pseudonym that deal with deeply personal themes such as anxiety, depression and self-reflection - often characterised by a melancholy atmosphere and vulnerable honesty.
He became known with tracks such as "hammer", "ruiner" and "letdown", in which acoustic guitar riffs meet trap beats and Mulherin's whispering spoken vocals collide with distorted shouts. His sound is reminiscent of the emotions of the early 2000s emo era, combined with the modern production styles of cloud rap and lo-fi. His music always remains raw and authentic, which has earned him a loyal fan base.
nothing, nowhere. has worked with artists such as Travis Barker (blink-182), KennyHoopla, and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz over the course of his career. With his album VOID ETERNAL (2023), he moved stylistically closer to post-hardcore and metal without losing his melancholic mood. As an artist, he remains a quiet but penetrating observer who knows how to make emotional depths musically tangible.
