Kings of Leon, a rock band from the USA, was formed in 2000 by the brothers Caleb, Jared and Nathan Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill. Their musical style is a mixture of southern rock and alternative rock.
Their breakthrough came with their first album "Youth and Young Manhood" in 2003, especially in countries outside the USA. They had the honour of opening for U2 and The Strokes.
Their third album "Because of the Times" made it to number 1 in the UK album charts. With their fourth album "Only by the Night", which was released in September 2008, they also enjoyed great success in the USA. The singles "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody" and "Notion" all reached number 1 in the Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts. The song "Use Somebody" received four Grammy nominations and won in three categories, including Single of the Year.
Their latest album "When You See Yourself" was released in March 2021. The band has won a total of 4 Grammy Awards from 12 nominations.
