Alternative rock with cult status

The Pixies are one of the most influential bands in alternative rock history. Founded in Boston in 1986, they shaped an entire generation of musicians with their distinctive style of raw guitar sound, unusual song structures and the alternation between quiet verses and explosive choruses. Their approach later became an important inspiration for bands such as Nirvana and Radiohead.

Musically, the Pixies combine elements of punk, surf rock and noise with an intense, often surreal atmosphere.
