Scandinavian cult between punk, hard rock and satire
Turbonegro are one of the most eccentric and influential rock bands from Norway. Founded in Oslo in 1989, they have gained a loyal international fan base with their mix of punk, hard rock, glam and a good dose of irony. Their self-deprecating genre label "Deathpunk" aptly describes their style: raw, loud, dirty and always with a wink.
Turbonegro became known above all for their provocative appearance, homoerotic references, tight jeans, sailor outfits and their penchant for absurd humour. Musically, they move between the influences of bands such as The Stooges, KISS and Motörhead. Songs such as "All My Friends Are Dead", "Get It On" or "I Got Erection" have long since become cult and are synonymous with their unmistakable mix of snot, power and black humour.
Another special phenomenon is their fan base, which is organised into so-called "Turbojugend" chapters worldwide. These loyal fans proudly wear their denim jackets with "Turbojugend" lettering and see themselves more as a family than mere followers.
Turbonegro have managed to mould provocation, party, punk and great rock anthems into a unique identity. They have long been more than just a band - they are a cult that always causes a stir with a mixture of humour, toughness and attitude.
