The Used is an American post-hardcore band from Orem, Utah, that was founded in 2001. With their mixture of aggressive guitar riffs, emotional lyrics and catchy melodies, they quickly achieved cult status in the emo and alternative rock scene. Their self-titled debut album The Used (2002) brought hits like The Taste of Ink and Buried Myself Alive and made them internationally famous.
In the course of their career, their sound developed further, from explosive screamo to In Love and Death (2004) to more experimental sounds on Artwork (2009). Despite several line-up changes, frontman Bert McCracken has remained the emotional heart of the band with his unmistakable voice. Their songs often deal with personal struggles, pain and hope, which has earned them a loyal fan base.
After more than two decades, The Used are still active and continue to deliver energetic live performances and new music, including the album released in 2023 Toxic Positivity. With their intense stage presence and unmistakable blend of heaviness and melody, they have firmly established themselves in the post-hardcore and emo scene.
