Mother Mother is a Canadian indie rock band that was founded in Vancouver in 2005. The group, led by frontman and songwriter Ryan Guldemond, is known for its unique sound that combines elements of alternative rock, art-pop and post-punk. Their early albums, including O My Heart (2008) and Eureka (2011), were characterised by quirky arrangements, polyphonic vocals and playful, sometimes dark lyrics.
In the 2010s, the band continued to develop their style and achieved success with songs such as Bit By Bit and Monkey Tree a larger audience. Thanks to social media in particular, older songs such as Hayloft and Arms Tonite from 2020, the band enjoyed a surprising revival, reaching a whole new generation of fans. The album Inside (2021) built on this success and showed a more modern, introspective side of the band.
