SYML is the musical project of US singer-songwriter and producer Brian Fennell. The artist, who was originally a member of the indie band Barcelona, started his solo project under the name SYML - a Welsh word for "simple". His music is characterised by a melancholy atmosphere, profound lyrics and a mixture of indie pop, folk and electronic elements.
SYML had its breakthrough in 2016 with the song Where's My Lovewhich received worldwide attention and was used in various TV series. Since then, he has released several albums and EPs, including his self-titled debut album SYML (2019) and the album The Day My Father Died (2023). His music is characterised by themes such as love, loss and identity, which has earned him a loyal fan base.
SYML's sound is often minimalist and emotional, with gentle piano melodies, atmospheric synthesisers and his distinctive, soulful voice taking centre stage.
