Godsmack

**Godsmack** is an American rock and metal band that was founded in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1995. Founded by singer and guitarist Sully Erna, the band's classic line-up consists of Tony Rombola (lead guitar), Robbie Merrill (bass) and Shannon Larkin (drums). Godsmack has made a name for themselves by combining a powerful blend of hard rock and alternative metal with dark, aggressive sounds and thematically intense lyrics. Their sound is often compared to that of bands like Alice in Chains, but offers a unique heaviness and energy.

The band's breakthrough came with their self-titled debut album *Godsmack* (1998), which contained hits such as *Whatever* and *Keep Away* and laid the foundations for their commercial success. Albums such as *Awake* (2000) and *Faceless* (2003) cemented their status in the rock scene with successful singles such as *I Stand Alone*, which was also featured on the soundtrack of the film *The Scorpion King*.
