Pantera

Pantera is an influential American heavy metal band that was founded in 1981 in Arlington, Texas. The original line-up consisted of brothers Dimebag Darrell (guitar) and Vinnie Paul (drums), Rex Brown (bass) and Terry Glaze (vocals), who was later replaced by Phil Anselmo. Pantera is known for its aggressive and intense musical style, which combines elements of groove metal and thrash metal and has contributed significantly to the development of modern metal. The band's breakthrough came with the album "Cowboys from Hell" in 1990, which is considered one of the seminal works in heavy metal. With powerful tracks such as "Cemetery Gates" and the title track "Cowboys from Hell", Pantera demonstrated their ability to combine technical virtuosity with raw energy. Their following album "Vulgar Display of Power" (1992) cemented their status as metal giants, with iconic songs like "Walk" and "Fucking Hostile" characterised by their heavy riffs and aggressive lyrics,Pantera released several more successful albums, including "Far Beyond Driven" (1994), which reached number one on the Billboard 200. Despite internal tensions and eventual dissolution in 2003, Pantera left a lasting legacy in the metal scene. Tragedy struck the band in 2004 when Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed while performing with his new band Damageplan. Pantera remains a legendary and respected band whose influence on metal music can still be felt today.
