Samy Deluxe, real name Samy Sorge, is a German rapper who is considered one of the most influential figures in the German hip-hop scene. Born on 19 December 1977 in Hamburg, he began his career in the late 1990s and quickly established himself as an outstanding lyricist and performer. His unique style, characterised by complex rhyme structures and socially critical lyrics, made him a pioneer of German rap.
His debut album "Samy Deluxe" from 2001 was a huge success and earned him numerous awards. With hits such as "Weck mich auf" and "Hab' gehört", he set new standards for German-language hip-hop and appealed to young people in particular, who recognised themselves in his lyrics.
