Johnossi is a Swedish indie and alternative rock band from Stockholm. The band consists of John Engelbert (* 1982) and Oskar "Ossi" Bonde (* 1979). The band name is derived from the two first names John and Ossi.
The two friends had been harbouring the idea of forming a band for several years before the actual formation. They cite laziness as the main reason for this delay. The band's style is characterised by a raw, dirty mix of sounds, which they mainly present at live concerts.
After forming, they toured Scandinavia with The Soundtrack of Our Lives and released their first album, named after themselves, in 2005, which was also released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland the following year. In 2006 they had their own tour and also played as support acts for Mando Diao and Razorlight. At the beginning of 2007, they toured alone throughout Germany.
Their second album All They Ever Wanted was released on 28 March 2008 and earned them their first chart position in Germany. The third album Mavericks was released on 30 April 2010 and the fourth album Transitions was released on 22 March 2013.
In their private lives, John and Oskar each have a wife and child. John is the father of a son and Oskar is the father of a daughter.
