Larissa de Macedo Machado, better known by her stage name Anitta, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, actress and dancer. She was born on 30 March 1993 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Anitta began her career at the age of eight in the choir of the Santa Luzia church in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 17, she decided to start a career as a singer. She signed a recording contract with Furacão 2000 in 2010.
She had her breakthrough in 2013 with the song "Show das Poderosas", which became very popular in Brazil and other South American countries. Since then, she has been regarded as one of the biggest stars of Latin pop.
Over the course of her career, Anitta has collaborated with some of the biggest names in pop, hip-hop and reggaeton, including Maluma, Ozuna, J Balvin, Cardi B, Major Lazer, Madonna and Missy Elliott. She performed at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics together with Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.
Anitta has released several albums, including "Anitta" (2013), "Ritmo Perfeito" (2014), "Bang" (2015), "Kisses" (2019) and "Versions of Me" (2022). Her song "Envolver" reached the top of the Spotify Global Top 50 charts, a first for a Brazilian or Latin American solo artist.
Anitta has received numerous awards, including four Latin American Music Awards and eight nominations for the Latin Grammy Award. She was the first Brazilian artist to be honoured as Best Latin American Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Anitta lives with her mother and five dogs in a spacious, gated luxury villa complex in Barra da Tijuca. She was married to Thiago Magalhães from 2017 to 2018.
